Books & Brunch for 7th Graders
Rutgers Association of Black Law Students presents: BOOKS & BRUNCH ON Saturday, September 21, 2019 1-4 pm at the Newark Public Library, 5 Washington Street
This program is designed to teach young readers about the importance of literacy with interactive workshops and games centered around reading comprehension, critical thinking and teamwork! This program is for 6th and 7th graders. The day will consist of alternating workshops, where the students are asked to quickly decipher reading comprehension problems with their peers. We will also highlight the resources of their local libraries and help students to obtain library cards, if needed. Light refreshments will be served. The participants will leave with gift bags with free books and school supplies.
The program is run by law students, who are excited to work with the children and talk to them about higher education and career choices. We believe reading is a necessary tool to success and knowledge to any course these children want to embark on. Parents are invited to stay and learn of possible techniques to promote literacy outside of the classroom and at home.
This event is limited and an RSVP is required, Monday, September 16, 2019. To RSVP, please reach out to this email, [email protected], with the name, school, and grade of the participating student. It is a great opportunity for our students to take advantage of, please see the flyer for more details.
